About the Molonglo Landscape Guardians Inc

The Molonglo Landscape Guardians Inc is an incorporated association of concerned local residents who oppose the Molonglo Ridge windfarm proposal. We are incorporated in NSW.

Athough the Molonglo Ridge industrial windfarm proposal has been abandoned by the developer, in line with the objectives of our Association, the MLG will continue to monitor any proposals for inappropriate development on the Molonglo Ridge.

Object of the Association: To promote the protection of the Molonglo Ridge and surrounding areas.

The principal activities of the Association: Ensuring inappropriate development does not proceed and conducting activities to preserve and enhance the area.

Do we oppose renewable energy?

No. The MLG supports the research and development of renewable energy resources. We oppose this particular proposal because it is in the wrong location.

Who funds us?

We are a non-profit, community group. We are not sponsored by any industry body or group. We rely on our own private resources and donations from individual MLG members.

Conspiracies, industry links and other assorted fantasies

An article published in the Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) in May 2006 claimed that there was an interstate and international conspiracy of Landscape Guardian groups and that they are linked to the nuclear industry. Previously, prominent wind farm supporters have made equally baseless claims about Landscape Guardian groups being a front for the coal industry.

These claims are false and can only be seen as an act of desperation by wind farm supporters to try and distract attention away from the obnoxious behaviour of some wind farm developers and the inadequacies of the product they are selling.

At the time the article was published in the SMH, the Molonglo Landscape Guardians published a response on this website. The claims of conspiracies and links to industry groups are so ridiculous that we felt we could only respond in kind. You can read our response here, which is followed by a serious message about the tactics of the wind industry supporters and those who make their living spruiking support for industrial wind installations.

Who can join the MLG?

We will accept membership nominations from individuals who agree with our opposition to the wind farm proposal on the Molonglo Ridge. There is no membership fee, but a completed membership nomination form (PDF 11 kb) must be completed and returned to us.
